Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon – An Android-powered stylish smartwatch

For quite a few years, we saw most of the high-end watchmakers and luxury fashion brands stay away from smartwatches. But lately we are witnessing a trend reversal and in the last one and half year many of these brands have made their foray into the segment. After Tag Heuer, Montblanc, Emporio Armani, Michael Kors, and Tommy Hilfiger, Louis Vuitton has become the latest to a swing at the luxury smartwatch market. The famed French designer brand has launched its first smartwatch named the Tambour Horizon Watch. Louis Vuitton developed the watch in partnership with Google and Qualcomm and it runs on Android Wear 2.0.


The Tambour Horizon watch is a reworking of its classic Tambour silhouette and swaps the mechanical hardware for digital technology. The 42mm case of the watch sports a 1.2-inch AMOLED 390×390 touchscreen that is surrounded by a 24-hour dial ring and it is powered by a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor. In addition to the standard Android Wear features, Louis Vuitton has added some custom watchfaces based on its existing product lineup, along with some flight-tracking and city guide features. The pricing for the Tambour Horizon watch starts at $2,450 for the regular stainless steel model, and $2,900 for the black variant.

Tiffany & Co.: Meet New Face Lady Gaga

The campaign will be aired as a 60 second film during the Super Bowl on 5 February. IMAGE: TIFFANY & CO. There are probably a Million Reasons why Gaga was chosen as the face of the campaign. Confidence, femininity, authenticity amongst others… but with a collection like Hardwear that’s supposedly hard and soft all at once, there could be no one better than Gaga. Embodying the strength and soul of modern New York, the collection is one that consists of a beautiful selection of earrings, necklaces, rings and pendants. Tiffany’s HardWear collection will be available in-stores worldwide on 28 April, with pre-orders available from 5 February onwards. More good news for those who are fans of Super Bowl and Lady Gaga – not only will Lady Gaga be performing in the half-time show this year, it will also be the first time ever that Tiffany and Co. will air a campaign during the Super Bowl. And that’s something we can’t miss out on.

Tiffany & Co.: Legendary Style Campaign, Grace Coddington

You’ve seen the Legendary Style campaign, styled by none other than Grace Coddington, who’s a legend in her own right. And with Tiffany & Co., she, with 50 years of fashion experience behind her, took on the role of being the American jewellery house’s first independent creative. And her first order of business? Creating a new campaign for Tiffany’s.

And the inspiration behind the campaign? In her own words, ‘Blue is very extraordinary colour, it’s a very positive colour. I always say why do I love New York? It’s because the sky always blue.’ The colour of New York’s sky, the colour of Tiffany & Co., and also the main colour you see in the ad campaign, which stars the likes of Elle Fanning, Lupita Nyong’o and Christy Turlington Burns.

But today’s post isn’t about the campaign, how luminous the personalities look, or even how how beautiful the jewellery is (we’ve already seen all that, no?). Today’s post is this must-watch short BTS film that stars Ms Coddington at her most charming as she plans the shoot from start to finish, complete with her humble, self-deprecating wit that had me transfixed for the good 10 minutes that it ran.

New Band Styles and Colors for Apple Watch 2 Hermès

Apple has once again collaborated with luxury brand Hermès for the Apple Watch 2 Series. New band styles and colors are introduced this season which are based on Hermès’ iconic watches – Clipper, Cape Cod and Espace. The Double Buckle Cuff will be available in Swift and Epsom calfskin leathers, and comes in three colors, Étoupe, Bleu Agate and Rose Jaipur. The Single Tour Deployment Buckle will come in Fauve Barenia Leather which includes a hidden deployment buckle and opens with a click of two side buttons. The classic Double Tour and Single Tour bands are still part of the collection with new colors for Fall including Anemone. Every Apple Watch Hermès model includes the exclusive Hermès Sport Band which comes in the brand’s signature orange color. Apple Watch 2 Series will be available for pre-order beginning September 9, 2016.

Porsche and Chopard honor Le Mans with limited edition time pieces

The 84th edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans saw the unveiling of Chopard’s Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Black Edition, a 100-piece limited edition chronograph. Inspired by the new Porsche919 Hybrid, the watch will be available only at Chopard boutiques. The 45mm titanium case of the timepiece is one of the most favored materials to be used in the world of endurance racing. Further bead-blasted and blackened by DLC treatment, the case not only carries a classy sheen but also ensures that it is resistant to scratches. The durability extends below the surface of water as well, making the watch submergible up to 100 meters.

The bezel is studded with eight blackened screws while the crown is fashioned to resemble a steering wheel. The dial is flanked by two distinctly red rubber pushers. The car analogy is taken further in the case middle, which is made to resemble the cooling fins in the car’s engine.

The watch is powered by a Chopard Caliber 03.05M. Other important features include a 60-minute power reserve and a flyback function. The mechanical self-winding chronograph movement has been COSC certified.

Not diamonds or gold this watch costs $95,000 because its the blackest in the world

Would you pay the weight in gold for a black-strapped watch? Nothing to be too shocked about, considering this is the blackest black that man has found. The man, named Anish Kapoor discovered the Vantablack in 2013, and today it is in the leagues of shimmering cousins like gold and platinum. The worth is going to be proven when Swiss watch company will launch this stunning, magnificent, absolute rad watch this fall called the S-110 Evo Venta Black, at $95,000.

The promo of the watch is building the suspense, and any person with a love for dials and tick-tocks would love this black beauty. It comes with four dials with five prisms that flip digits, like an advertising banner. It comes studded with 471 components, 81 rubies and a 40-hour power reserve. The Vantablack is used on the dial and some other parts on the watch too.

However, the star is not the dial but the use of Vantablack – so rich that if you stare at it too long you might feel like you are being pulled into a void, a black hole of sorts. This “blackest shade of black” has been manufactured by Surrey Nanosystems, which initially developed this colour for the aerospace in collaboration with British National Physics Laboratory. The “tint” is made up of a “complex of carbon nanotubes which when assembled together can absorb over 99.965 percent of light.” The depth of the colour has been explained using multiple analogies, but I suppose we have to see it to believe it. Supporting the watch case made of titanium with black DLC coating, is a black alligator strap with a sapphire crystal case back and face.

The watch is a super limited edition and only 10 pieces will be made. This should explain the price tag.
